It was late in 2021 and there I was, extremally disappointed that I did not experience the emergence of the 17 year cicadas. It was all over the news and I was looking forward to experiencing their emergence since they are one of my most loved insects. Then, when they were exploding in other parts of the northeast, to my dismay we experienced few of them. So, I decided to create this piece to explain my disappointment. We all ended up hanging around waiting for their arrival. The bees were there. The ladybugs were there. BUT, where were the cicadas??
