My friend Pierre came to the house with this tree trunk that he carved into a man’s face and wanted me to incorporate it into a fence. Since I did not have a need for a fence, I told him that I would do something with it. He left and when I went to move it and looked at the rear side, I was very excited to find “her”. He did not realize that she was there. Once I saw her I got very excited about working on the piece. I quickly worked on him so that I could then spend time with her. She was a dream. I finished them just in time for our next Arts on the Lake show and invited Pierre to come take a look. When he arrived, he took a look at him and smiled and then as I turned the piece around, and as he looked at her, his face became very serious. He left the room and went outside. He returned a couple of minutes later, with a piece of cardboard in his hand and a brush in his other hand. He came right up to the piece and with a few dabs of his brush, gave her her finishing touches, her eyes and mouth. She was then even more beautiful than before.
